About Dan Clem

Overview

I have worked as a professional web and database developer since 1999. I specialize in custom web applications for businesses — typically intranet and extranet scenarios.

Availability

I am available for contract work at an hourly rate. Based in Vermillion, SD, my target market is the I-29 corridor spanning south to Omaha, NE and north to Watertown, SD, including the cities of Sioux Falls, SD and Sioux City, IA. I'm also available for worldwide work with occassional travel if appropriate for your project.

Databases

I have significant expertise and training as a database developer. My primary platform is Microsoft SQL Server 2000, though I've also worked with a variety of other relational databases in corporate environments, including Oracle, DB2, DBIV, Access, MySQL, and Progress. My applications often depend on data flows from primary company databases, and I've written scores of SQL Server DTS packages to manage and reshape this data as needed.

Development Platforms

My core development platforms are ASP.NET / SQL Server and classic ASP / SQL Server. I typically use ASP.NET for new projects. I also have written applications using PHP / MySQL and Cold Fusion / Access.

Equipment

I add value to my clients by assuming the costs of maintaining an up-to-date, fully licensed Microsoft development environment. This environment includes a Pentium 4 Xeon Windows 2003 Server running IIS, SQL Server 2000, and the latest release of the .NET framework. It also includes a Pentium 4 Core 2 laptop loaded with Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition for core development work, along with the Adobe Creative Suite for some light graphics work. Keeping me closer to my clients is a commercial-grade DSL connection featuring full-throttle 7 megabit downstream / 896 kilobit upstream speeds. (The Qwest switching station is just across the alley from my downtown office. Can't beat that!)
